Trump Business Sought to Bring In Almost 200 Workers on Visas in 2025

The former president’s family business increased its hiring of overseas employees on temporary visas this year, while his government was placing obstacles for other companies attempting to do the same, an analysis published Thursday stated.

According to information from the US Department of Labor, the business aimed to bring in at least nearly 200 foreign workers in the coming year for temporary positions at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The number of applications for temporary work visas covering staff including servers, clerks, housekeepers, culinary employees and farm workers was the highest ever filed by the company, and up from over 120 in the previous term, when Trump’s first term ended.

It was also the fifth instance in a decade that Trump had attempted to hire more than 100 overseas workers for seasonal jobs at his Florida resort, based on labor statistics.

The disclosure coincides with a crackdown on legal immigration by his government that has involved the introduction of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; increased review of the actions of the 55 million people who possess American work permits; and tighter regulations for international scholars and reporters.

In total, the Trump Organization sought to hire over 560 foreign laborers over the period Trump has been in the presidency, from his first term and during 2025.

Notably, Trump was criticized by some in the GOP this period for remarks defending the need for overseas employees when a company was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill particular roles.

“You can’t just say a nation is entering, going to invest $10bn to build a plant, and going to take people off an jobless roster who have been unemployed in five years, and they’re going to start producing their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that well,” he told a host after it was implied that overseas employees undercut the wages of US workers.

The White House declined a inquiry for comment, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
