Although audience feedback for Peacemaker season 2 has been largely positive, with fans and critics applauding the performances and plot—even if the major revelation in the seventh installment wasn't exactly a surprise—a particular criticism has only grown stronger throughout the season: decreasing episode runtimes.

In recent weeks, viewers have expressed disappointment over the noticeably shorter runtimes this season, and indeed, the installments have been getting shorter and shorter. Episode 7, titled “Like a Keith in the Night,” ran just 28 minutes (excluding the summary, opening credits, and closing credits), making it the shortest episode so far.

Fans will be pleased to learn next week's episode is over 57 minutes long.

Peacemaker showrunner and DC Universe head Gunn stated on Threads, responding to a viewer's concern.

Despite this news, it remains unclear what portion of the 57 minutes will be actual new footage, uncluttered by opening and ending sequences, or summaries of past episodes. However, even if the finale contains all the aforementioned filler, that still leaves between 45 and 50 minutes for the concluding episode, which is a big upgrade following the previous installment.

The director earlier hinted that the last episode would not only wrap up Peacemaker but also provide clues regarding the future the broader DC Universe as a whole will be moving and serve as a kind of precursor for the next Superman movie. Considering the brief appearance of the actor's portrayal of Lex Luthor from the sixth installment, fans expect a exciting guest appearance to conclude the series.

The show's finale, episode 8, is called "The Full Nelson," and we'll just have to wait to see if viewer theories are confirmed.
