Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on Monday, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital follows the sports world offered its support for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
